From the beginning of the 20th century till today, many Chinese have traveled to the West to study. But most of them have never learned the truth for the constant progress occurred in the West: Christianity, individualism, capitalism, constitutional republic, freedom and human dignity... On the contrary, what they have learned in the West and brought back to China is exactly the opposite of what makes the West progress: Marxism, class struggle, socialism, Nazi-fascism, communist dictatorship... Unfortunately, today such a phenomenon is still continuing. --- Kai Chen
When I visited Taipei to join the "Beijing Olympics and Human Rights Forum", I noticed that most international guests were from the left side of the political spectrum. One guest from Hong Kong's legislature, Mr. Liang Guoxiong, even wore a very conspicuous T-shirt with Che Guevara's portrait on it. Of course I let him have a piece of my mind right there and I didn't care how many were present at the time.
I then realized that this has always been the tendency among the Chinese who have been associated with the West: They have always somehow been fascinated and obsessed NOT by what makes the West work, but by the by-products of the Western freedom - those anti-West values. Sadly today such a phenomenon is still continuing.
To unite with anti-West, anti-American forces in the attempt to defeat the evil communists on the mainland of China is itself self-sabotaging and self-defeating. And such an obsession with anti-West values is very damaging to the cause of freedom in China. Unless and until people realize this important point, their anti-American friends in the West can only lead them on a detour toward another despotism, no matter whatever name they may give it.
Here I just want to caution those in the democracy groups and among the Falungong practitioners: You will fail in your anti-communist crusade when you bring in the anti-West, anti-American elements to join your cause. In case that one day the communist regime in China collapses, these anti-West and anti-American elements will steer China, through your own moral confusion and weakness, toward another tragedy and disaster.
