The Negative Cultural Selection

每日一语:

Existence exists. --- Ayn Rand

只有存在才有意义。 --- 安. 兰德

Countless zeros only add to a zero; one true existence is nonetheless one reality. Thus one true free existence is always bigger that a billion nothingness. --- Kai Chen

无数的零加起来仍旧是零;但一个真实的存在无论如何都是一。 一个自由的真实存在永远大于十亿个虚无。 --- 陈凯

Dear Visitors:

Some say that one person is too small to count, too small to effect anything in the world. I passionately disagree.

Every positive change and discovery starts from one person, one idea or one action that is meaningful. As long as you think you are doing something meaningful, you do indeed count, and you do indeed exist for a purpose and a value. If you find you have become uncertain about your own value and you have to constantly look for others' approval to feel your own existence, then your true freedom, identity and existence are in real doubt. Sadly, this is what most people in China feel every moment.

A culture of Nothingness and a philosophy of nihilism are not only corrosive and destructive to a people's mindset, they also act as a mechanism for a "Negative Cultural Selection". In this process of negative cultural selection China has practiced via governmental policies and cultural suppression, (through centuries of murder, imprisonment, persecution, mayhem, wars, individual suppression and collective oppression, propaganda, forced reeducation, intellectual self-castration, Confucian moral confusion, despotic family and political structure, hierarchical social order....) the best elements in the Chinese society, those who have talent, creativity, courage, originality, truth-seeking mentality, free spirit, great individuality..., will be repelled and eliminated from the mainland Chinese gene pool. Only those who follow the government and cultural establishment, those timid beings who keep silent in the face of evil, can survive and even thrive in that corrupt and corrosive cultural environment. They are the conformists, self-deceivers, cultural and spiritual drug addicts, cowards, back-stabbers, boot-lickers, crowd pleasers, intellectual eunuchs, bipolars and schezophrenics, idiots, handicapped public officials.., etc, etc...

These degenerate elements negatively selected, through the Chinese official filtration process, to breed and produce next generations, in a cultural setting that is aimed to eliminate the best and the most talented, has already been, to a large extent, very successful. This phenomenon of negative cultural selection has produced a curious, but logical result: Those who came out of China and immigrated elsewhere in the world have all thrived, and they have achieved much in the realm of science, finance, medicine, politics, arts, music, literature.... Those who remained in the Mainland China are still mired in the nihilistic Nothingness, indulging themselves in the never-ending man-eating-man....

The recent Chinese governmental policy of "One Child per Family" adds even more to this "Negative Cultural Selection" by limiting the reproduction of the best and encouraging the reproduction from the defected gene pool. The disastrous result from such a reactionary policy will be felt for a long time to come.

This negative cultural selection and its disastrous effect on Chinese society has been studied in the West, and has been ignored and denied in China. "Writing on the Wall" by William Hannas in 2005 has a chapter dedicated to this topic.

So maybe the hope for China has long been removed from the Mainland Chinese society itself, to the overseas Chinese community, armed with talented, individual-minded gene pool, a free progressive culture, an alphabetic language... Maybe we should all stop to just think a little more logically and rationally. Then we will really open our eyes to see the hope: It is not out there, as some of us assumed, in mainland China. It is rather here in the overseas Chinese community, for we the living, we the true existence, are the fountainhead of human creativity, progress and true freedom.
